How often do you need to change engine oil?

Most manufacturers will recommend an engine oil change twice a year or every 5-10,000 miles, but this will depend on the age and mileage of your car, and how much driving you do. Which is better – synthetic or conventional oil?

Conventional oil comes from crude oil, and synthetic oil is man-made. Because it’s designed to take just the best elements from crude oil, it has fewer contaminants than conventional oil. Being a cleaner oil, it flows better, which aids lubrication, and it’s also less likely to cause sludgy build-ups in the engine. Basically, unless you have a much older vehicle, synthetic oil will be better for your car.
